When
Sensei Chan began to offer karate classes at the Chan Association in
1998, it was the first time since the Second World War that karate was
taught in Chinatown. Two years ago, the Chinatown dojo moved to the
Chinatown Lions Manor, where it continues to thrive. Chinese and non-Chinese
members of Ku Yu Kai regularly participate in cultural and social events
of the Chinese community, including marching in the annual Lunar New
Year parade.
